The Environmental Engineering Foundation (EEF) was established as a result of strategic planning by the American Academy of Environmental Engineers. The primary purpose was to provide a tax-exempt vehicle for the Academy to collect funds to expand the Academy's activities in support of Environmental Education.
With the Foundation's mission in mind, the EEF Board of Directors has been working with committees of AAEE to define the activities to be supported. In particular is support for the development of local chapters of AAEE, partnering with other engineering organizations to add Environmental Engineering to their outreach to K-12 students, and recognition of environmental engineers and environmental engineering educators through the F.G. Pohland Medal, W. Brewster Snow Award, and the W. Eckenfelder Fund.
